The L’Oréal Foundation undertakes numerous projects that help spread the culture of science around the world. In France, for example, the Foundation has been associated with a support project at the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie. This program aims to help underprivileged middle- and high-school students to overcome their resistance to studying science, which is often the reason for their low academic performance. Almost 4,000 mentorships have been carried out since the project was launched in 2006. Also in France, the Foundation takes part in the “Scientific Facts” competition aimed at developing a love of scientific experiments among young people. When confronted with real-life projects, middle- and high-school students have demonstrated their inventiveness and enthusiasm, proof that there is no lack of interest in science among young people.
