The award ceremony was held on January 31st at the prestigious Grand Hyatt Tokyo in the presence of French Ambassador Thierry Dana.
The annual competition rewards the best performing companies in 2016, this year in eight categories showcasing the strength and diversity of French companies in Japan. The jury is composed of the President of the French Chamber of Commerce in Japan, French and Japanese business leaders as well as a French business journalist. They selected among the nominees the most dynamic, innovative and performing companies which grounded their success on the Japanese market.
In 2014, Kiehl’s in partnership with TerraCycle Japan launched a unique skincare packages recycling project “For the Beauty of You & The Planet” and as of 2016 has successfully collected over 535,000 pcs. Lancôme’s Eyes for Future project was initiated to empower the 2011 earthquake affected women in Ishinomaki city by supporting them to start-up their own businesses. Approximately 100 women have enrolled in the program and 60% have launched their own business.
This is the first time for L’Oréal Japan to be awarded as a company. L’Oréal Japan country manager, Jérôme Bruhat commented, “We are very honored to receive the 2017 Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award for being recognized for our long term commitment and contributions through our community social programs. We strongly believe that through our Sharing Beauty With All sustainable commitment, beauty has the power to change the community and engage consumers for a better environment and society.”
